Kausani provides 337 Kms. panoramic view of Nandaghunti, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Panchachuli etc. The highest points near Kausani are Pinnath (5 Kms.), Bura Pinnath (5.5 Kms.) and Rudradhari (7 Kms.) The famous Hindi poet Sumitra nandan Pant was born in Kausani. Mahatma Gandhi came Kausani in 1929 and impressed by the serenity wrote a book 'Ana-Shakti Yoga". The house in which he wrote the book is now known as the 'Ana-Shakti Ashram".
